Business Analyst (contract base)
We are looking for a Business Analyst who will serve as the key bridge between clients and our development team at the very inception of new initiatives. The primary focus of this role is the masterful execution of Discovery phases, translating the chaos of client ideas into clear requirements, comprehensive backlogs, and a transparent Scope of Work for our outsource production at Covent IT.
What you will do
- Drive Discovery phases: Plan and conduct client workshops, Q&A sessions, and in-depth stakeholder interviews to uncover actual business needs.
- Transform high-level (and often vague) requirements: Turn client wishes into structured artifacts, including User Stories, Use Cases, Acceptance Criteria, and BPMN/UML diagrams.
- Collaborate closely with the Tech Lead: Validate the technical feasibility of requirements early on, identify blockers, and shape the architectural vision before development begins.
- Manage client expectations: Guide clients during the initial stages, logically propose alternative solutions, and assist in prioritizing the MVP.
- Prepare the final Scope of Work (SoW): Moderate the project estimation process with the team before smoothly handing it over to delivery.
- Strong commercial experience as a Business Analyst within IT outsourcing.
- Proven hands-on experience in independently and successfully driving Discovery phases (from the initial introductory call to the finalized backlog).
- Excellent information structuring skills and proficiency with tools like Miro, Draw.io, Jira, Confluence, and prototyping software (Figma/Axure).
- Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Confident English (Upper-Intermediate or higher), with the readiness for daily verbal communication and presentations with international clients.
- Exceptional facilitation and negotiation skills, including the ability to confidently say "no" to unrealistic expectations.
- Experience participating in Pre-sales activities and assisting with commercial proposals.
- A technical background or basic understanding of APIs, databases, and microservices architecture to communicate effectively with the development team.
